Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect what you type into the quote form, we use it to quote your project, and we do not track you or pass you to anyone else.
Who this covers
This policy applies to www.interlockingvaughan.com and to Interlocking Vaughan, which operates it. It explains what personal information we handle and what we do with it. We are subject to Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
Only what you send us. The quote form asks for the following, and everything marked optional can be left blank:
- Your name (required, so we know who we are calling)
- Phone number (required, and the way we normally reply)
- Email address (optional)
- Neighbourhood or street (optional, helps us plan the visit)
- Project type and timeline (optional)
- Project details you choose to write (optional)
If you phone or email us instead, we hold whatever you tell us in that conversation for the same purposes described below.
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which record things like IP address, browser type and the pages requested. That is a normal part of running a website securely, and we do not use those logs to build a profile of you or to target advertising.
What we do not do
This part is worth stating plainly, because most privacy policies say the opposite:
- No cookies. This site does not set any. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no heatmaps, no session recording.
- No advertising or social pixels. Nothing on this site reports your visit to an ad network.
- No third-party fonts or embeds. Our fonts are served from our own domain, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you were here.
- No mailing list. Giving us your email to get a quote does not subscribe you to anything.
- No selling or renting your information. Ever, to anyone, for any purpose.
Why we collect it
To respond to your enquiry, arrange a site visit, prepare a quote, and carry out work you go on to hire us for. We also keep records of completed jobs so we can answer questions about work we carried out, which means knowing who we built what for and when.
By submitting the form or contacting us, you consent to us using your information for those purposes. You can withdraw that consent at any time, as described below.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of service providers to run the business, and they only ever receive what they need to perform their function:
- Our website hosting provider, which serves these pages and keeps the server logs described above.
- The system that delivers form submissions to our office so an enquiry reaches a person.
Beyond that, we disclose personal information only where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim. Some providers may store data outside Canada, in which case it is subject to the laws of that country.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for about two years and then deleted. Records relating to work we actually carried out are kept for the period we are required to retain business and tax records, and for as long as any guarantee agreed in your contract runs.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, where we are not required to keep it; and
- stop using it, by withdrawing your consent.
Email info@interlockingvaughan.com or call (905) 555-0142 and we will deal with it. We will respond within 30 days. Withdrawing consent while a quote or a job is in progress may mean we can no longer do the work, for the straightforward reason that we would not be able to contact you.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Keeping it secure
This site is served over an encrypted connection, and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. Access to enquiry records is limited to the people in the business who need it to do their job. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise, but we do not hold payment card details or government identifiers, so there is very little here worth stealing.
Children
This site is aimed at property owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. If the change is significant, for example if we start using analytics, we will say so clearly rather than quietly editing a paragraph.
